Well, I am not actually Sam. Sam is in my refrigerator… 14 bottles of Sam, in fact.

Tonight was grocery night, and despite the fact that I really didn’t need to buy beer, I found a box of beer filled with Samuel Adams’ American Originals. (Side note: Wouldn’t it be weird to have them sell a box of Mexican Originals, or British Originals? German Originals?) A 12 pack of 6 different varieties, including the original Boston Ale, Irish Red, Scotch Ale, Noble Pils, White Ale, and Revolutionary Rye Ale. I have NO idea how long it will take me to get through the entire 12 pack, but I thought it was great that I didn’t have to buy a whole 6 pack of each just to try them.

In other news, I think my blog must be very well hidden. I was talking to a couple of guys at work today and mentioned having a blog, and one of them immediately started Googling for it. I stood in his office doorway for about 30 minutes waiting for him to find it… no luck. Of course I’m sure he’ll find it eventually. For now, I’m going to go back through my archives and make sure I didn’t say anything bad about him!

I’m tapped out tonight – it’s been a stressful day, and trying to think of something interesting to write is the very last thing I want to do right now. My pillow is calling my name…

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Silly me… when I filled out my timesheet at work this week (we have to track our hours every week for planning and resource management), I put the actual hours I worked, which was only 34. You know, I figured it was better to be honest, since I totally did not plan to use vacation hours for the other 6. My manager rejected it. Despite the fact it was a holiday week and I was one of maybe 10 people in the entire department, and at least I bothered to come into the office (my coworker didn’t even bother to send an email Tuesday or Wednesday to let us know she was working from home). Ugh. I’m just really, really tired of everything being about whether or not I’m in the office or not, taking up space, breathing the air. I don’t like feeling like I’m just there to fill a seat… shouldn’t it be about whether or not I’m producing the desired results? Plllblllbltttt. I don’t wanna talk about work anymore. Blech.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I made a sugar cream pie for my birthday. I baked it Monday night, and it wasn’t too bad. It wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it was good enough to eat. It used to be my favorite, but that sour cream apple pie I made for Thanksgiving and again at Christmas is coming up a mighty close second… it might just overtake the current numero uno.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

And that’s… it. I’m out for tonight. You stay classy, America.

Can I just tell you how disappointed I am that Pushing Daisies has been cancelled? I love that show… *sniff*

Oh, well. As a tribute, I made my first pie ever for the Thanksgiving feast taking place tomorrow. First, I baked four Sugar Pie pumpkins…

I love the coloration on this one after it spent an hour and a half in the oven. So pretty.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Next, I pureed the pumpkin using a blender (as opposed to a food processor, because I don’t own one of those fancy contraptions)…

I think it turned out pretty well. I mean, what did people use before food processors were invented?
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
After that I mixed the ingredients…

Not pictured: 3 large eggs.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
in this bowl…

My grandmother used to mix her pies in this bowl, too. She mixed everything in this bowl.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
And then I poured the mixture into the pie crust and placed it in the oven…

New pie plate. Removed the glue from inside the pie plate with nail polish remover… don’t tell!
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
And after 65 minutes, out of the oven came my first pumpkin pie…

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I’m so proud of myself. I committed to doing the dessert for tomorrow, so I’m bringing this pie, a sour cream apple pie, and a strawberry pie from Gray Brother’s Cafeteria. All of that for three adults and 2 preschoolers. Forget turkey coma… I’m thinking we’ll be in a sugar coma.
