Handygirl

November 16th, 2008

It’s the little things, really, that make me happy. A cup of hot chocolate, a grin from either of my girls, a walk in the park. Oh, and changing my own water filter for the first time.

I do most of the stuff around the house for myself. I call my brother if it’s something that requires tools I don’t have, and I have professionals do things that neither of us should do (like furnace and air conditioner maintenance), but I still get lots of satisfaction from doing the little things. RC may have had to install the faucet for me, but I can change the filter all by myself. Hang a picture? I do it. Repair a hole in the wall? Call RC. Now, if I could just get over myself and learn to do simple car maintenance… the most I can do is fill the washer fluid and replace the windshield wipers.

Dangit, I lost my post. I don’t like that your comment error message won’t let me retrieve it!

I asked a bf to show me how to change a tire, but I still call D when I get a flat. And I only change oil because I have a weird car and don’t want to pay the dealer. I think a lot of it is just being forced into the situation and how much you’re willing to pay someone else to deal with it.
