Dabbling
So, it’s been a long while since I’ve dabbled in html. Coding has never been my strong suit, and trying to make sense of how WordPress works is giving me nightly headaches. I mean, I love it in general, but I don’t know what extras I need and what are just “nice to have”. I’ll figure it out eventually, but in the meantime the site will be in a state of flux as I work out the kinks. Hey, I’m not a professional, so it doesn’t matter if my blog isn’t perfect on initial launch, right? That’s how things seem to work in the world of software development anyway — consider this the beta version.

Every year I say the same thing when I pack away the previous season’s clothes to make room in my closet. I go through each piece and determine what I’ll keep and what will go to charity, and I say “I won’t be able to wear these clothes — I’ll be thinner!” or “I should keep this — it’s a little tight now, but I’ll be able to wear it next year because I’ll lose weight.” Up until last fall that last one made me keep no less than 12 pair of shorts that I haven’t been able to wear since 2004.
This year I’m not doing it. I got rid of almost everything at the end of the season, and I’m starting over. I’m going to rebuild my wardrobe for the body I have, not the one I want. It’s going to be challenging — I’m 5′2″ and wear a size 18/20. They don’t make a lot of clothes for my frame, so I have to be choosy to begin with. I also want a grown-up wardrobe — the wardrobe of a 32 year old professional, not a 21 year old college senior. More classics, fewer trends.
I’ve put together a list on Kaboodle with some of the things I’ve found so far… I just need to keep it in mind when I go shopping locally, and hope I can find similar items around and about.
